American Amber Glenn won the women’s singles competition at figure skating’s Grand Prix Final on Saturday, ending a 14-year drought for U.S. women in the sport’s three biggest worldwide competitions.

Amber Glenn won the first women's singles final gold medal at the figure skating Grand Prix for the U.S. since 2010, and she could make her first Olympics.

The last time an American won the Grand Prix Final was in 2010, when Alissa Czisny accomplished the feat. Glenn, a 25-year-old skater from Texas, said she was "exhausted" after overcoming some of her own doubts to reach the top of the leaderboard.
