A federal appeals court late Sunday rejected the Trump administration’s bid to halt an order requiring full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments during the government shutdown.

The U.S. Supreme Court is expected to say Tuesday whether the Trump administration must start complying with lower-court orders that require full payments in the SNAP food program

The court's action allows the administration for now to continue withholding about $4 billion from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, known as SNAP or food stamps.
