Scientists are closely monitoring Kilauea after some earthquake activity on Saturday afternoon. The volcano is not erupting, but seismic activity increased at the Halema’uma’u crater. And scientists believe it’s all related to the magma storage system beneath the volcano.

HAWAII COUNTY, Hawaii (Island News) – According to the United States Geological Survey, a 4.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded near Volcano, Hawaii on the Big Island. On Saturday, September 14, at approximately 4:25 p.m. HST, an earthquake with a 2 km depth was recorded about 4.7 miles south southwest of Volcano, Hawaii.
