Scientists are closely monitoring Kilauea after some earthquake activity on Saturday afternoon. The volcano is not erupting, but seismic activity increased at the Halema’uma’u crater. And scientists believe it’s all related to the magma storage system beneath the volcano.

A magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck off the southern tip of British Columbia's Haida Gwaii at around 3:30 p.m. local time on Sunday afternoon. The National Weather Service Tsunami warning centre says there is no threat of a tsunami from the earthquake.

The tremor struck at 3:15 p.m. northeast of the Alum Rock area with a depth of approximately 5 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The agency has not recorded any aftershocks, and there have not been any reports of damage. According to the USGS “Did you feel it?” report, at least 1,174 people said they felt the earthquake.

An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.4 struck Santa Clara County east of San Jose Friday afternoon.

MEMA issued the alert shortly before 4:30 p.m. informing residents that "shaking may have been felt in some areas, but a tsunami was not generated."
