Israel and Hezbollah agreed to withdraw from southern Lebanon, but Israel says that Hezbollah hasn’t upheld its promise and that the Lebanese Army isn’t ready to fill the void.

Israel has reportedly violated its ceasefire deal with Hezbollah hundreds of times already, killing numerous people.

The army conducted strikes targeting Hezbollah weapons storage facilities and active observation posts in southern Lebanon over the past few days, it added.

A ceasefire between Israel and Lebanese militant group Hezbollah set out a 60-day deadline for Israeli troops to withdraw from southern Lebanon. That period ends on Sunday afternoon NZT.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) -Israeli forces will remain in southern Lebanon beyond a 60-day deadline stipulated in a ceasefire deal with Hezbollah because its terms have not been fully implemented, the Israeli prime minister's office said on Friday.

Israel has said it is delaying the withdrawal of its troops from southern Lebanon, as it said Lebanon had not yet fully implemented its part of a ceasefire agreement. The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said however that the gradual withdrawal of Israeli troops would continue in coordination with the United States.

Israeli forces are set to remain in southern Lebanon beyond the 60-day deadline outlined in a ceasefire agreement with Hezbollah, according to a statement from the Israeli prime minister's office released on Friday.
