Gov. Josh Shapiro sued President Donald Trump’s administration Monday, joining a lawsuit filed by 23 other states and the District of Columbia challenging the the decision to withhold more than $6 billion in education funding.

The One Big Beautiful Bill that Trump signed into law contains a provision to reauthorize the Radiation Exposure Compensation Act and expand who is eligible for the program.

“I am fighting for Arizona students and the education they were promised," Mayes said, noting districts were expected to receive the money July 1 as had happened in years past.
