Tesla’s shareholders will decide this week whether the automaker should award its chief executive, Elon Musk, stock worth almost $1 trillion if he achieves a series of impossible-sounding goals.

Elon Musk won a shareholder vote on Thursday that would give the Tesla CEO stock worth $1 trillion if he hits certain performance targets over the next decade.

He also needs to increase Tesla’s market value to $8.5 trillion and significantly boost its operating profits.
