SEOUL, South Korea — The national security advisers of the United States, South Korea and Japan on Saturday called for a stronger international push to suppress North Korea’s development of nuclear weapons and missiles, its cybertheft activities and alleged arms transfers to Russia.

According to national security advisers gathering in Seoul, the US, South Korea, and Japan have agreed to increase cyberspace response to North Korea.

The United States, South Korea and Japan agreed new initiatives on Saturday to respond to North Korea's threats in cyberspace, including cryptocurrency abuses and space launches, White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan said.

In a critical convergence of international efforts, the United States, South Korea, and Japan have united forces to address a pressing issue—North Korea’s persistent exploitation of cryptocurrency to finance its nuclear and missile programs.

Top national security officials from the US, South Korea and Japan pledged to deepen their security cooperation and jointly respond to North Korea’s cyber activities, which it uses to bolster funding for its sanctioned nuclear and missile programs.
