Kelly Medhurst huddled with her Southern softball teammates in the middle of the fourth when a flash of color caught the junior pitcher’s eye. The sun traded places with spitting rain all afternoon.

The Southern Bulldogs host the South River Seahawks in a high school softball game dedicated to the late Navy sportscaster Pete Medhurst, whose daughter Kelly Medhurst pitches on the Southern squad.
