In the dark stillness of night, a quiet, tree-lined street in a San Diego neighborhood was plunged into tragedy when a plane clipped a main power line and crashed onto the street — turning cars into fireballs and sending hundreds of residents fleeing in a haze of smoke and confusion.

A private jet crashed into San Diego military housing in foggy conditions early Thursday, killing multiple people on board. The crash ignited cars and damaged around ten homes.

Eight people were injured, with one family admitted to hospital for smoke inhalation and another treated for injuries sustained trying to flee.
