STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — One lucky winner in New York City scored $1 million with a second-prize Powerball ticket. The New York Lottery announced the winning ticket for the Dec. 9 drawing was sold at Bridge Food Mart Corp., located at 427 Wythe Ave., in Brooklyn.

With no winning jackpot tickets, the Powerball jackpot for the next draw on Monday is an estimated $412 million, with a cash value of $194 million.

It has been months since the last Powerball jackpot was won, hitting an estimated $1.765 billion with a cash option of $774.1 million. The winning ticket was drawn on Oct. 11 and sold in California. That prize ranked as the second-largest Powerball jackpot and U.S. lottery jackpot ever won.
