NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Louisiana State Police on Monday (May 19) recaptured Gary C. Price, one of 10 inmates who escaped the Orleans Justice Center jail last Friday. Price, 21, is the fourth escapee to be recaptured since what Gov. Jeff Landry said is the biggest jailbreak in Louisiana history.
The victim, Lt. Alison Russo-Elling, 61, was ambushed while heading to a corner store in her uniform to get something to eat. One of the first responders to the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001, she was months away from a planned retirement when she died.
Relatives of a murder victim say they went into hiding after learning the man convicted in the case broke out of jail and was missing for hours.
