A judge intends to rule this week on a plan for local governments and individual victims to vote on OxyContin maker Purdue Pharma’s plan to settle thousands of lawsuits over the toll of opioids.

Oxycontin maker Purdue Pharma received court approval on Friday to begin voting on its $7.4 billion bankruptcy settlement, while deferring questions about how state and local governments should spend the money they receive.

Fifty-five state attorneys general have agreed to a $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family over their role in fueling the opioid crisis.
