Detectives found that the suspect forced his way into a residence with a firearm. During this incident, the suspect and victim exited the residence. The victim was found outside of the residence with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he died.

Los Angeles city officials say a search is underway for what they believe is a killer "preying on the unhoused." LAPD Chief Michel Moore said Friday afternoon that a single person is believed to be responsible for the killings of three homeless men in separate shootings carried out this week in different parts of the city of Los Angeles.

Jerrid Joseph Powell was arrested on Saturday in relation to a string of murders of eight homeless people in LA and Vegas, as well as a potential robbery in San Dimas.

The city's mayor says she's trying to make more shelter services available after a series of murders in very similar circumstances.

Authorities announced the suspect in the alleged killing of three homeless men is the same person who already is in custody for the alleged San Dimas follow-home robbery and murder.
