Ukrainian intelligence reports suggest that Russia is preparing a fresh wave of "massive attacks" on the country, President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Friday, as Ukraine is struggling to keep its energy grid running amid freezing winter weather.

Russia has targeted Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in past winters, but this year intensified its attacks as temperatures in Ukraine plunged well below freezing.

An intense wave of Russian drone attacks has left hundreds of thousands of households in the Kyiv region without power, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday, as temperatures fall well below freezing.

Russia struck a playground in the city center of the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, Governor Maksym Kozytskyi reported on Jan. 15.

The Kremlin has tried for years to freeze Ukraine into submission. This winter, its attacks have been the most devastating ever.

The church, a national cultural landmark confiscated during the Soviet era, remains state-owned but will now function primarily as a parish church.
