Russian forces fired a total of 43 missiles across Ukraine from east to west, and 36 of them were shot down by Ukrainian air defense, according to Gen. Valeriy Zaluzhny, commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The Ukrainian capital of Kyiv was among the major cities hit, along with areas of Kharkiv, Kherson, Cherkasy, Rivne and Lviv.

Ukraine dealt a significant blow to Russia’s naval power with a devastating strike against the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s headquarters, with one serviceman missing after the attack, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

Ukraine's military said on Thursday its forces had struck a Russian air base in Crimea overnight, confirming an attack that was earlier reported by a Ukrainian intelligence source.
