House Republicans on Friday announced their legislation to avoid a partial U.S. government shutdown at the end of the month and fund the government into late March, when a new president and Congress would make the final decision on agency spending and priorities for fiscal year 2025.

Writing to his Democratic colleagues Sunday, Schumer said his party is in favor of a short-term funding extension, or CR, and urged Republicans to back a bipartisan effort.
