The Trump administration told federal agencies that firings of probationary workers are up to the agencies ‒ not the Office of Personnel Management.

The ruling applies to workers who were fired from six agencies during recent purge of government workers.

The policy change makes it easier for the president to discipline or remove up to 50,000 employees, another push in the administration’s campaign to reshape the federal work force.
