US president Donald Trump has revealed where him and Vladimir Putin currently stand given his increasing frustration with the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.

"Putin really surprised a lot of people," the US president said on Sunday night. "He talks nice and then he bombs everybody in the evening."

New audio recordings obtained by CNN reveal that Donald Trump told a group of private donors he threatened to bomb Moscow and Beijing.

But his frustration with Putin has grown. Last week, the president said the United States was taking “a lot of bullshit” from Putin. Today, he authorized a significant shipment of U.S. defensive weapons to Ukraine via NATO and threatened Russia with new tariffs if the war does not end in 50 days.

President Trump discussed how he came to give up on negotiating with Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House on Monday, as the U.S. agrees to sell new and more weapons to Europe and Ukraine.

Trump said there is “no reason” for Russia’s continued attacks on Ukraine and complained that reaching a ceasefire in the three-year-old war Putin launched has been “tougher” than expected, while crediting Kyiv’s forces for bravery as they’ve battled back Russia’s invasion.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday he was going to speak to U.S. President Donald Trump later in the day.
