American negotiators trumpeted plans for a prisoner swap, but that was small recompense for months of diplomatic efforts by the Trump administration.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that he received a report from the negotiating team on1 February, when a Ukraine-US-Russia meeting was scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi, but he did not specify whether the meeting actually occurred.

The first round of trilateral talks was held last month.
