Winter storm forecasts can be filled with some unique terms. Here's what they mean.
On Thursday at 3:36 p.m. EST a winter weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service in effect until Friday at 1 p.m. EST for Montmorency, Crawford, Oscoda, Missaukee and Roscommon counties.
The National Weather Service released an updated winter weather advisory at 11:58 a.m. on Thursday valid from Saturday 6 a.m. until Sunday 6 p.m. for Marion, Lamar, Fayette, Winston and Walker counties.

Ahead of the winter storm, a pair of low-pressure systems are expected to sweep through the Great Lakes region over the next couple of days, churning up lake effect snow that could total up to 2 feet in some areas through the end of the work week, the National Weather Service said.
